The brief presented to us revolved around the theme of “Combinations and Alliances” I felt this was quite a vague concept to work around is it allowed me to cover a large range of ideas, I had several ideas about what I could do ranging from remaking classic book covers in a new modern way or illustrating people’s conversations from public transport. Eventually I finalised on making a magazine cover based around a combination of art forms, these being comic books and comedy, the article I cover in the magazine will be based on this mix, having an interview with a comedian on having a comedy night in a comic book shop, and the great outcome that comes from the combination of these two things. I began looking plainly at magazines, their conventions and how they are made, I then looked at alternative magazines and how they stray away from these conventions and how to do that successfully. I did this through a mix of experiments and using handmade techniques mixed with digital ones, this combination was common within the alternative magazines so this is the route that I decided to go down for my final piece, this took a lot of development by looking at different artists copying their approach to magazines.
