Evaluation

Throughout the course of unit 4 I learnt several techniques that expanded my graphic skills. I think I dealt with time efficiently but found it difficult to come up with completely fresh ideas, this seemed to take up the majority of my time. One place where I found I could refine my style was within my drawing technique particularly within fonts. The font that I used for my final magazine cover surprised me on the level of quality because I spontaneously decided to use this within the lino print, but it maintained the theme that I wanted to achieve. I've also learnt a lot more about different kinds of press and the impact they have on certain subcultures/ things non mainstream, which helped me develop variety within creating my magazine and having an understanding that their aren't limits within the creativity of production.
If I had to redo the unit then I would definitely spend more time consolidating and planning because I think if I did more of this I would spend less of the time panicing and how to use my time.
One area that I have experimented was within using ink, I feel disappointed that I didn't get to use much of this technique within the exam as it was one that a lot of other artists in this field used and had some really nice effects in my other work. I think my skill in inking was definitely improved on upon throughout the course and I definitely intend to use this within the future.
The thing that I most enjoyed was the simplicity of just drawing and embracing that the drawings used are not of particularly good quality life-like standard but one that allows variation and is more about expression than accuracy.
