Final Piece Plans

Here I played with the hues and the block colour to see which colours blended well with each other.

Above, is a colour wheel, and within my exam I wanted to find a way of not using a whole range of colours that would be too harsh for the front cover so I used a technique called gamut masking which enables you to get a more specific range of colours, the process is where you select three points from the colour wheel to create a triangle, each point of the triangle is the most saturated type of that colour that you can use, so it creates a more realistic spectrum of colour. This proved very helpful because it made me choose a mix of colours that complimented each other really well, and even though it only appears to be a subtle difference but one that enhances the work.
These were the original full range of colours that I started out with.

After taking the design I used earlier, I made it into a lino and played with colour and tone in photoshop. I tried to see if there was too much tone in one area by flipping it and changing it to black and white so I could see more clearly where the tone was heavier and then I could alter this if I needed to.
The original background idea started from a simple image I drew of a comic book shelf and then I had the idea of using this as the main feature on my page, so I later adapted this to become a lino print.
